An educational charity run solely by volunteer meditators
Intended only to the dissemination and practice of Vipassana meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin,
the Vipassana Association of Brazil (AVB) is a non-profit organization governed by a statute, bylaws and a Board of Directors, which represents legally a Board of old students, called Board or Trust. Any student who has completed a course of 10 days can be part of the Vipassana Association of Brazil, participating in the meetings and serving on several service committees.
The Board is a way to engage, train and give responsibility to Dhamma servers more on various activities of a centre or an area. The members are appointed by the professor responsible for Dhamma Santi, Acarya Arthur Nichols.
Formed by old students committed to the Dhamma Service and with the daily practice of meditation, the Board (Trust) takes decisions together with the teacher in charge. All members meet the legal requirements of State and work according to the guidelines established by the main teacher, S.N. Goenka. The professor in charge of representing S.N. Goenka, assumes responsibility for the Center.
